Barmi Shabbaton

  • We are pleased to provide you with the details for your son’s Bar Mitzvah Shabbaton.

    It is anticipated that this Shabbaton will be one of the highlights of the Barmi program for the boys and their families, and we look forward to a wonderful experience.

    The program includes a Friday night dinner with the Bar mitzvah boys and their families (Bubbas and Zaidas and other family members most welcome), followed by a special overnight program for the Bar mitzvah boys.

    The boys will have the opportunity to experience a whole Shabbat in a relaxed and fun atmosphere with special programs and workshops over the weekend. Full care and supervision will be provided.

    The Shabbaton will be held at Moorabbin Shule and L’Chaim Chabad – Youth Centre and the boys are to arrive at Shul by 6pm on Friday, 21 Feb . The Friday night service will commence at 6:45pm followed by the family Shabbat meal. 

    Boys are expected to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, pajamas, personal belongings and modest Shabbat clothing. Please do not send your son with personal electronic items and mobile phones. All food and nosh will be provided. The program will conclude onSaturday night, and the boys can be picked up after 9pm. 

    For catering purposes, we need to know the numbers attending as soon as possible. If you can please register by the latest Friday 14th Feb it would be greatly appreciated.

JAE after school and now Virtual learning program has provided our children with a well-rounded Jewish education. We have two children that have attended the program since Prep, with our daughter just finishing the program last year. The beautiful teachers have used fun and interesting ways to teach them about our traditions, important festivals and history. They have also spent one-on-one time with them teaching them how to read and write Hebrew using innovative strategies. Through this tricky new way of learning Leah has gone above and beyond to keep our son learning and engaged via the virtual JAE program. Elisha and Leah and all the teachers involved with the JAE program have provided our children with a warm, loving and safe environment to discover what being Jewish means to them. Being part of the program means you are part of the Moorabbin Shul Family, which is a wonderfully inclusive community to be surrounded by. Thank you for all that you do.

 Our kids thoroughly enjoy going each week. They find the lessons fun, interactive and enjoy learning their jewish history and learning to read Hebrew (and of course the snacks are a bonus too!). We appreciate the considerable effort put into the program and are pleased that our kids have a Jewish component to their education.

My gilrs have both been attending JAE since Prep. They are now in Grade 4 & 2 and still enjoy going. They learn so much and come home brimming with excitement each week. Having the bus straight from school is also a fantastic initiative.
